Welcome to WASM Wallabies Mining Club

The WASM Wallabies is a student-run organisation founded in 2006 and based at Curtin University’s Bentley Campus in Perth, Western Australia. The club is co-ordinated by in house elected committee members. As one of the lead competitors in the Intercollegiate Mining Competition (ICMC), the WASM Wallabies provides an excellent platform for students to gain exposure to industry professionals, promote the industry to the next generation of mining students and establish skills that will become invaluable when graduating and entering the workforce.

The ICMC, established in 1978 to honour the victims of the 1972 Sunshine Mine disaster in Idaho, USA, brings together mining students worldwide each year. The Mining Competition consists of many events that replicates old mining techniques as shown above.

The WASM Wallabies are open to all current students enrolled in any discipline at Curtin University, interested in extra curricular, team-based activities and networking opportunities that expose them to the mining industry. The WASM Wallabies was established to offer Bentley based mineral resource students the opportunity to compete in the ICMC and immerse themselves in the WASM Mining Games culture even while away from Kalgoorlie.

Safe Spaces Agreement

At the WASM Wallabies, we value safety, inclusivity, and a supportive community. These values guide everything we do, both on and off the field, as we work to create a welcoming environment for all members. We do not tolerate any misconduct or violation of Our Safe Spaces agreement.
